Here is a basic explanation of how to Write a Post to Your Wordpress Dashboard:
(1) First, Create a Category for Your Post. Here is the Navigation Order to create a Category: Main Dashboard -> Posts -> Categories -> Name the Category -> Click on “Publish” at the bottom left hand side of the Browser Window. Your new Category is now created!
(2) Proceed to the Post Area of the Dashboard. Here is the Navigation Order to Create a New Post: From the Main Dashboard Panel -> Posts -> Add New.
(3) Before you Actually Start Writing… Group the Post in the Category you just created. You will see a menu on the bottom right hand side of your screen entitled “Categories”. Click on the Check Box next to your new Category to group this new Post in your New Category.
(4) Name the Post. You will see a title address area at the top of the screen. Enter the title of your Post here.
(5) Write your Post. I normally install the FCK Text Editor in all my sites, I will update this instructional soon to include how to use the text editor. Put the cursor in the Text Area, and Start Writing!!! Within your Post, you can control font types, font sizes, font colors, import images, create hyperlinks, and other variations that you will find at the top of the editor. Have fun and get creative!
(6) Save the Post. You will see a blue disk icon on the top left hand side of the editor. Click on the disk icon to Save your Entry.
(7) Publish the New Post to Your Wordpress Site. Click the “Publish” button on the right hand side of your browser window. The Post you created should now be "Live" and available to be seen by other visitors to your site.
(8) Other things to look at. There are other options when creating your Post. Explore the interface a little bit, and you should be able to discover some of the options. You can choose to keep your blog private, allow comments or not allow comments… etc… You might want to spend some quality time just exploring the different options. I am here to help you understand any other aspects you might want to incorporate into your web page.
(9) Program your Widget to display a link to your site. Journey back to the Dashboard with you New Post now complete. Here is the Navigation Order: Main Dashboard -> Appearance -> Widgets -> Find Category Widget from the Menu Items -> Drag & Drop to “Sidebar Area on the left hand side of the screen.
(10) Select the Category you have created in the Widget in the Sidebar Area. With the widget open in the Sidebar Area, complete the details to take your widget "Live." You will need to select the Category your post is in… and Click on "Save" when you are finished.
(11) Click on “Save” in the bottom left hand corner of the Widget itself, still located in the Sidebar Area. The Category you named earlier, and a Link to the Post should now be viewable in the Navigation Area of Your Sidebar.
It might seem like a lot, but once you have created a Post, it will become second nature to you!!! And… If you have any problems at all….
I am just an Email, Text or Phone Call away!!!
